Hi everyone, new and old readers.
Today’s blog is about about values, what they are and why they are important.
So, what are values?
Values are the concepts that are important to you, like: equality, love, family, honesty, effort, loyalty, faithfulness, freedom and many other concepts, organized in your own hieratical order.
They determine what you think is right or wrong and important to the way you live your life. They are connected to your emotions, which in return means that you feel strongly about them and they are part of your expectations.
It is important to identify your own values for you to determine your priorities and objectives. When the things that you do are in tune with your values, you will usually feel satisfied and content.
There is often a mix up between values and beliefs. Where Beliefs are basically assumption about the world that we believe to be true, without proof or hieratical order. You can have beliefs that are supportive of you and the life you want to live and limiting beliefs (you can read more blogs about limiting beliefs here).
Both our values and our beliefs are important to identify when we want to change or have personal growth, when we change our beliefs and values (or the order of our values) we can create important and lasting change.
Knowing your values can give you guidance in your decision-making process, reaching objectives and creating change. Values are an important part of education, upbringing and family and they are also helpful to identify in companies to give guidance and security to the employees and help them make the right decisions for the company to reach its goals and visions.
One of life´s paradox is that we are often reminded of our values when we are not living in harmony with them or if someone violates them, knowingly or not. Just like we are often taught about other people´s, Our family’s or company´s values when we overstep them.
The better we know our values, the better we can express them and the more satisfying our contact with ourselves, our loved ones and our work, will be.
“Values are like fingerprints. Nobody´s are the same, but you leave them all over everything you do”
Elvis Presley
I hope you are as happy as you would like to be and remember it is free to be kind.
Best wishes
